The last couple of months were very busy in the kitchen. We baked and baked and we baked … We are grateful to your sweet tooth. It was fun!
We are glad to announce that we were able to collect 345 EUR, a sweet amount too!!!
The money will be used for Joyce to move her next steps in the beauty world. In these last months, Joyce has been extremely busy learning many techniques. Applying foundation and make up, doing eyebrows, epilation, feet scrubbing, making wigs, applying nail polish, manicure, combing into many different hairstyles and massage are some of the things she can do now.
By learning all this, Joyce managed to get the school certificate. We still don’t have pictures, since this just happened, but Joyce was very weak with malaria that day and did’t take pics. She is still down with malaria, but we are confident she will be better soon.
Last step for her is one final assignment to graduate and obtain a government certificate. She expects this will happen early next year, but exact date is not known yet.
Her plans for 2025 are big ones. She closed 2024 with quite some difficulties. Someone broke in her room while she was asleep. Luckily Joyce can scream loud and so she managed to scare the person off before anything bad could happen. However, her phone was stolen. Her boyfriend broke up with her and this affected her immensely. Last but not least, to have ends meet, Joyce decided to eat only once a day, which definitely didn’t help her health. She did not tell us, since she thought it was not appropriate to ask for more. Reality is however, that the cost of life has risen enormously in Malawi and people are struggling everyday more.
However, as said, she is a resilient girl and her plans are big for 2025. Her dream is to open a beauty saloon. The money raised with the bake sale will hopefully help her a bit, even though, we are aware she will need much more. We do have a target of 1000 EUR (this means we still have 655 EUR to go).
